FAQs
All doors are easily cleaned with a soft damp cloth. If a stain develops, use soapy water or windex. Then use a dry soft cloth to prevent streaks. If the stain persists, try methylated sprits and use a soft brush (eg. Soft tooth brush). If the stain persists further then use a very mild abrasive such as toothpaste.
Note: The use of such abrasive cleaner is the last resort; as such methods can prematurely wear away the surface of the doors.
Some cleaning products can damage the doors surface. Never use strong alkaline or acidic cleaners such as CLR, Draino, Bleach, Domestos, Sugar Soap, Crème cleaners or dry powder (AJAX). Sand paper and steel wood can also damage the doors surface. We also recommend not using wax-based products such as Mr Sheen as they leave a thin wax film on the doors surface.
Thermo laminated, ABS & Acrylic doors are not to be exposed to direct sun or any appliances that produces heat. Oven, gas stove, induction hotplates & dishwashers are some appliances that can cause damage (eg. Shrink vinyl and expose the MDF). The recommended height for overheads are 700mm but doors can still be damaged by heat if you don’t use the range hood or leaving a naked flame. Range hood must be used at all time on a high level while gas or induction hotplate is in use. Also filters must be regularly cleaned. Avoiding this will restrict air flow and can cause heat to flow in the wrong direction and slowly damage the doors. All appliances which radiate heat must not be used directly under overhead doors as this can also slowly damage your doors.
Many ovens and dishwashers do not have baffled-fitted surrounding. The excessive heat from oven doors and some dishwashers can make vinyl shrink. Heat deflector strips around the appliances are required. Please note that heat deflectors are there to help. Vinyl can still shrink if the appliances are not installed or performing correctly. Heat deflector strips are available at ModernForm Doors.
ModernForm Doors have been using the Thermo Fusion Technology for many years with successful results. Thermo Fusion Technology is an application of an adhesive that is an impervious membrane to the back of the PVC Vinyl not on the MDF board. This process eliminates the increase of moisture within the MDF board which can cause fibre swelling. By eliminating fibre swelling, we can achieve a smoother
finish with gloss (less orange peel).
